Brief history of Rancho San Lucas
In 1955, a young cannery manager named Luis Bulnes had a vision for the future of Cabo San Lucas. So, after helping complete the construction of Hotel Finisterra, he opened his own hotel in 1974, called “Hotel Solmar.” After that, he founded Groupo Solmar, which develops hotels and resorts throughout Los Cabos.
Don Luis Bulnes Molleda is now known as the pioneer developer of Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, Don Luis Bulnes Molleda passed away in October of 2011. But, his accomplishments are now remembered with a statue on the city’s marina boardwalk promenade. Thus, Groupo Solmar is now a legacy company in Cabo San Lucas connected with the birth of tourism in Los Cabos.
In 2018, Grupo Solmar partnered with Greg Norman Real Estate to build an exclusive 834-acre master-planned community and golf course within Rancho San Lucas.
