Palmilla Beach was named a Blue-Flag beach by the Blue-Flag program, which is operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education. For your convenience, parking is available in two separate areas. Also, there is a protected area for swimming, a nice area to launch small boats and another area to stroll on the beach.
Surfing
The Golden Corridor offers exceptional surfing spots to choose from that offer consistent, quality waves. And, you’ll find sand-bar beach breaks, short and punchy reef breaks, and long-rolling pointbreaks, making it a surfer’s paradise. Resident Tropicsurf guides have intricate knowledge of this coastline – they know the tides and local weather patterns. That means they know exactly where to go!
There are surf lessons available at the on-site Tropicsurf center. So, it doesn’t get much easier to hang ten when you stay at Palmilla.
One&Only Palmilla Hotel
Sitting on a secluded bluff overlooking the Sea of Cortez, the One&Only has 73 rooms and villas that are a blend of classic Mexican design with contemporary accents like Venetian stucco. Also, there are walls of windows that create very bright, elegant spaces. Each room and villa has a terrace. And, many have direct ocean views and private pools.
The original Palmilla Hotel was built in 1956. It had only 15 rooms. And, prior to the highway being constructed, you could only visit the hotel by boat or airplane. Finally, in 2004, the One&Only Palmilla was first opened after the highway was completed.
In whale season, a conch horn alerts guests when the whales are breaching out in the Sea of Cortez.
The One&Only Palmilla Beach
The beach at the One&Only hotel is a rare gem indeed. And, it’s not very large. To explain, it only has a few private cabanas that are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. And, the rocky backdrop and fairly calm water offer an unexpected treat. There, find snorkel gear and non-motorized beach equipment, which is available for free.
Dining
Dining at One&Only Palmilla includes Asian-Mexican fusion and Mediterranean options. Plus, there’s a steak house by the Michelin-Star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Suviche offers an impressive selection of fresh Sushi and Ceviches. And, each is prepared with a unique combination of traditional preparation styles. Each style comes with the Jean-Georges’ signature blend of herbs and spices. Then, the casual, fun ambiance complements the beautiful panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez while you enjoy the live entertainment. So when you’re ready to eat, It’s open daily from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. And when you’re ready to drink, the One&Only Lounge is open daily from 6:00pm to 12:00am.
Spa
The spa is magnificently crafted with endless amounts of greenery and fancy stonework. And, each treatment room has indoor and outdoor spaces. There, the services include synchronized four-hand massages along with a wide array of treatments. There’s also a beauty salon, men’s barber shop, spa boutique and a juice and herb bar to complete your experience.
At the spa, personal training is available along with an array of free classes, which include pilates and spinning. The gym is very large and bright. It has hardwood floors and an abundance of modern cardio and weight-training equipment for you to choose from
Kids Club
The One&Only Palmilla kids’ club is packed with many types of entertainment options for your kids. They include games, a jungle gym, kids’ movies, and video games, to name a few. And, children are very safe at the Kids Club since it’s fully supervised.
Palmilla Golf Club
Famous for its 27 holes of world-renowned golf and panoramic vistas of the Sea of Cortez, the Palmilla Golf Club became the “Grand Dame of Los Cabos golf.” And, being the first Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in Latin America, this magnificent fairway is quite stunning and challenging.
